About Edith
Edith Marlowe schooled village youngsters in Harrogate ere she wed Thomas Rootwell in 1903. She turned remembrancer to the household: each arrival, christening, nuptial and leave-taking went down in her hand inside the great household book.
Lacking Edith’s bent for captioning each frame and sheltering each letter, the early rungs would be bare names. Her gathering of four hundred-plus sheets now stands scanned within the Rootwell albums.
